After I saw this post I decided to make birthday cakes from cans for Josh’s birthday.

I went with white cake and used raspberry whipped cream (delish!). Here’s how I did it.
1. Get your cans ready by removing the label, washing them out and buttering and flouring the inside.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and make cake according to recipe on box, put cans on cookie sheet and bake. I baked mine for 35 minutes.
3. Let cakes cool and remove them from the cans. Mine slipped right out.
4. Cut off the ugly top (and eat!). Then slice the good part into 1/2-inch slices.
5. Make your frosting. I used heavy 1 1/2 cup whipping cream , 2 teaspoons vanilla and 1 tablespoon sugar, whipped it together and folded in real crushed raspberries.
6. Make two cakes by layering cake, then whip, then, cake, then whip. Top with more whip and raspberries.
I love the versatility of these little cakes. I might try chocolate cake next time!

We are SO flipping excited to show you what we’ve been up to lately. We launched a new magazine! It’s all about food, entertaining and survival, and we’re sure you’ll love it.
We’re both journalists at heart (we create publications for our day jobs!) so when Adam and Joanne of Inspired Taste started thinking about ways to show off their photos we decided there was no better way than to start a magazine. It’s given us a chance to show off our invites, create other party goods and crafts and plan awesome parties for our friends. Plus, the magazine design? Yeah, that was us. And it was oodles of fun!

Enough chatter about maché magazine from us. Go CHECK it out for yourselves!
PS–We’d love to hear what you think of it!

We’re going cherry picking this weekend. Maybe I’ll make this divine Almond Cherry Crumble. If I don’t eat all of the cherries first…

There’s nothing better than a snowball when it’s 100 degrees outside. Plus, this has to be the swankiest snowball truck I’ve ever seen. It’s in Baltimore too!

Lava Flow (recipe from squidoo)
There are numerous variations for making a Lava Flow. This biggest difference is that somerecipes use 1 oz. of light rum and 1 oz. of Malibu® coconut rum. When Malibu® coconut rum is unavilable you can use 1 1/2 oz. of light rum and 1/2 oz. of coconut cream.
Ingredients
1 oz. light rum
1 oz. Malibu® coconut rum
2 oz. fresh or frozen strawberries
1 small banana
2 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice
2 oz. coconut cream
Preparation
Blend the 2 rums and the strawberries in a blender to form a smooth paste. Pour this mixture into a tall (Collins or Hurricane) glass. Rinse the blender. Blend the banana, the coconut cream, and the pineapple juice in blender with crushed ice until smooth.
Pour this mixture into the glass with the rums very slowly and watch as the strawberry mixture oozes its way to the top along the sides of the glass creating the flowing lava effect. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and paper umbrella.
I could sure go for one of these right about now! Find more summer luau ideas here.

One of the highlights at the National Stationery Show was the letterpress recipe card scavenger hunt. Organized by Amber of Flywheel Press, 14 letterpress designers partnered with Legion Paper to create amazing recipe cards to hand out. All of the cards fit nicely into a cute recipe box. It was a great way to break the ice and initiate a chat with some inspiring stationers.
